Rules

Indemnity
All competitors compete at own risk. By entering the starting pens of the events you acknowledge that you have read and understood the Event Rules and have completed the Event Entry Form, including the Release & Waiver, in full. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
Event Rules
1) Please ensure that you bring your race number or signed indemnity form and proof of payment to registration at least one hour prior to your race starting time on Saturday.

2) Please go to the events section to view all the different events.

3) No wetsuits allowed or any other swimming aids allowed in the swimming event. Brightly coloured swim caps must be worn during the race.

4) No refunds will be issued once an entry has been received. If the race is deemed unsafe by the administrators of the water space, nature run or mountain bike race and it will not be possible to hold the event beyond the control of the Organising Committee, no fees will be refunded or medals will be issued.

5) Medals: All competitors in the swimming-, running- and cycling events will be issued with a Erfenis-participation medal.

6) For entry fee information please go to the "Entry fee" section on the website. All entrants will be liable for the necessary gate entry fees of R40.00 per car and R10.00 per person. Please note that no cards or cheques will be accepted at the entrance, strictly cash please. All Erfenis Dam Nature Reserve indemnity rules will apply.

7) Please note: no chip – no results.Lost chips will be charged at R100. All chips remains the property of the Mr Price Group. Ensure that you have the correct chip allocated to your ankle. Should someone collect your registration pack on your behalf you will still be held liable for the cost of a missing chip should it not be returned within 24 hours of the finish of the event.

8) Entries can be done in one of the following 3 ways:

1. Directly through Erfenisdam on 28 November from 6h00 to 1 hour before each item

2. By downloading the entry form from the website and a direct deposit into the bank account of the organizers.

9) Seeding for the Halfway Telkom Midmar Mile: Any swimmer wishing to be seeded for the 2009 Midmar Mile need to complete the swimming event and an ID must be issued.

10) Any information not completed properly on the entry forms, like date of birth and age, will result in the exclusion/disqualification from category results. The onus is on the entrant to furnish full details on the entry form.

11) Catering, childrens programmes and exhibits will be available at the Nature Reserve on Saturday.

12) There is a cut-off time at the halfway mark of 30 min for the swimming events. The final time limit is 60 minutes. Anybody still in the water will be removed by the Water Safety Staff for safety reasons.

13) Prize giving will be held after the last event for the day has finished.

14) Prize winners must attend the prize giving to receive their prizes. Under no circumstances will prizes be forwarded to athletes. All prize winners will be obliged to sign an acknowledgement of receipt thereof. There will also be lucky draws.

15) Competitors will:
-Practice good sportsmanship at all times.
-Be responsible for their own safety and the safety of others.
-Obey traffic regulations and instructions from race officials.
-Treat other entrants, officials, volunteers and spectators with respect and courtesy.
-Avoid the use of abusive language
-Inform race officials if withdrawing from the race.
Please note: Swimmers must wear a swim cap. No wetsuits or artificial propulsion devices in swimming will be allowed.

16) Cycle events
-A bicycle check will take place upon Check-in to the transition area.
-Competitors must cycle with a helmet at all times.
-Blocking of other cyclists is not allowed.
-Cycling with a bare torso is not permitted.
-Drafting off another competitor or motor vehicle is forbidden.
-Competitors are entitled to any position on the course as long as they get to that position first, and without contact with others. A competitor who approached from any position to take advantage of the draft. Bears responsibility for avoiding the draft.

17. Running events
Competitors may not: Crawl, run with a bare torso or run without shoes on any part of the course.

18) Transition area (triathlon)
- Competitors must ensure all unused equipment stays within their transition area and is not discarded “on the field of play” or left in the space of another competitor.
- Competitors must not impede the progress of other competitors in the transition area.
- Competitors must mount & dismount their bicycles at the designated area or line.
- Bicycles must be left in an upright position on the racks.
- Cycling is not permitted in the transition area.
- Nudity or indecent exposure is forbidden. Changing tents will be provided in the transition area.
- Only items used during the race can be placed in the transition area during the race.

19) General
- The responsibility of remaining on the race course rests with the competitor.
- Any competitor who appears to be a danger to themselves or others may be removed from the race.
- The use of Headphones and headsets, glass containers and mobile phones is forbidden on any part of the races.
- Race numbers provided must be visible at all times.
- Entrants must complete the race entirely under their own power. No personal seconding or assistance is allowed.

22) Results will be available on www.midmarmile.co.za & www.erfenisdammile.co.za

23) For medical emergencies, ER 24 is located in the Erfenis Dam Nature Reserve at the finish. Please notify an official should you require medical attention. The onus is on the competitor to supply and make arrangements regarding special medical/ health requirements while competing.

25) Please note that the website www.erfenisdammile.co.za will be updated on a regular basis.

26) Traffic and parking.
Please comply with the rules of Erfenisdam reserve at all times. Parking areas will be available.

27) Waiver. Should it not be possible to hold the event, beyond the control of the oragnisers, no medals will be issued and no entry fees refunded.

28) Results. Results will be available as soon as completed. Results will be sent by sms to each competitor and will be published on www.erfenisdammile.co.za. Queries will not be considered after 15 Desember 2009.
